Nuraghe di Ardasai

Storia Seui

Description

This nuraghe is the most important one in the vast archaeological park of Ardasai, located at the foot of Mount Tonneri, 1015 metres above sea level. It is a multi-lobed limestone building with a typical fortress structure. The complex is rather articulated and, placed on a rocky prominence, dominates the area. It consists of a main tower, of which today only the first level can be visited, and two other adjoining towers. There are several circular and oval huts, a sacred spring related to the site's worship activities, several giants' tombs and, finally, the remains of a wall. The nuraghe dates back to the Middle Bronze Age (1500-1200 BC) and is in a strategic position for controlling the routes leading towards the Barbagie.
