Description

Cascate di Lequarci is one of the most imposing water landscapes in Ogliastra, in the territory of Ulassai, where the limestone Tacchi gather springs and underground streams. In periods of high water, the Rio Lequarci plunges from an amphitheater-like cliff in a drop of almost one hundred meters and disperses into rivulets, pools and small lakes at the base of the wall. The setting is one of vertical reliefs covered with holm oaks and Mediterranean scrub, with the nearby area of Santa Barbara and the paths that climb toward the taccu. It is a seasonal waterfall: its force depends on rainfall, but even in less water-rich periods the place retains geological and landscape value, linked to karst phenomena and the trails of Ulassai.
